Private tutor in Bellevue, WA
Washington University in St Louis - Bachelors, English
I'm Amanda, and I attended Washington University for my bachelor's degree in English. I also earned interaction design and philosophy minors, graduating cum laude. I'm looking towards the future career in public policy or law. I've had the opportunity to gain tutoring experience on campus, assisting students with their writing skills. I've also been a tour guide on campus, a counselor, and a leader in the Greek system. I understand the pressures students face when preparing for exams or facing advanced coursework. Also, when it comes to testing, it can be very difficult to focus on both test taking skills and material. I like to help students by providing them strategies that match their learning style and help them find test preparation attainable. I can also help students drill on the actual course content, including reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking. I have a very laid-back approach to my students so that our sessions are comfortable and education is open. This allows me to help them directly in an efficient and effective way. My overall goal is to help students stay focused, engaged, and build their confidence. I can assist students in English, reading, literature, essays, and test preparation for the ACT, SAT, HSPT, ISEE, SSAT, and other exams. In my spare time, I like to hike, read, eat good food, and travel.
